All colors of life!

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Going through life at a fast pace we tend to plan, predict and prepare life so custom made that we miss out on surprises. Life fails to surprise us if don't leave any space for it to do so. Prepare, but don't over prepare. Leave some scope for surprise, and who know, life might juse take you down some stunningly scenic road!

The people we meet on our way up are the same people we meet on our way down. True. But then, everybody knows that. So why is arrogance so common?

Because some people really are luckier than others. And people do get away with a lot. Maybe God has discount seasons too. And maybe we'll be in at the right spot sometime soon enough...

Looking for people who understand us, we overlook the ones who do that best

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

We look for people who can understand us. We all do. You too must have wished for someone who could understand what you are going through. Or what really makes you happy. Or someone who knows exactly how you feel right now. Haven't you?
We often confuse companionship with love. And so we just keep looking for it in the ones we love. But every relationship has its own place. A friend is a friend. A lover is a lover. A mother is a mother. We need all of them. Even those relationships that have no name...but this post is not for them.
An elder sibling is a parent who is your own day and age. He/She understand what you need to know, What you want to know, And also, what you know and wouldn't admit. Somebody we love to miss for fighting with. Someone who always thinks we're in love with the wrong person. Somebody we like to tease, tickle and please. Someone who has seen you through the best and the worst and has been there, literally, by default.
I have some very fond memories of my brother as I'm sure many of you do (brothers or sisters). This post is dedicated to them. I miss my brother. And so I write this. Not because today is sibling day or something...

Uncertain, but hopeful

Monday, February 2, 2009

Hope is all anybody ever needs to go on in life. Everybody has enough to complain about. But there is only one tiny speck of hope that keeps us going. Hope that someday our life too will take a U-turn and everything would be just like we imagined. We hope. We believe. We do it every single moment of our lives. And that's what keeps us going.

Hope is what makes the journey more beautiful than the destination, sometimes. Its when you keep going, and then you look back and you can't believe you did what you thought you couldn't have. Just because you kept up the hope. You didn't know. You just hoped.
Like that we keep on going. We hope today to believe tomorrow. We hope today to be surprised tomorrow. To be happy.
On the way we lose hope. But we gain it again. Sometimes we're reminded of the time we did believe. By someone. Or something. Keep in touch with those things and those people that keep you going. And so, if someone loses touch with hope in between, pull them through it. Give them something to go on for. They are hoping you would help. They don't know it, but they hope. We hope. Someone would pull us through sometime. So we keep on hanging in between. Someone. Something. Will change. To make it all worthwhile.

Struggling for ourselves

Saturday, December 27, 2008

Creativity, as natural as it may seem at first, is a science. People can be born with talent, but expertise is developed over time. Writers and painters who are sometimes percieved as being gifted with certain talents have to still develop that talent into expertise before they begin to harness any benefits from it.

If someone decides at 20 decides today that he wants to be a full time writer, he is looking at first the development of the language skills and the effectiveness of his narration. He is looking at a life where he has to look for stories and make them. He has to devote time and attention to improve which is a slow process. And he may not be able to make another profession because of this one. That is not easy.
A contemporary artist in today's world of technology and tools has to not only know the methods of the past but should also understand and be adept at the possibilities of the tools of today. The choices that he has to make are not made in one night that he wants to be a painter. But the contemplation of a long time that he can't be nothing else.
We are who we are and even the obstructions in the path that is our's are our own. We love them like we love the path like we love our destiny. Admitting our love for the things we love and believing in it is a major foundation of individuality. I am.

What dreams!

Saturday, December 20, 2008

Some dreams haunt, some taunt, some smile and some simply surprise. We all have dreams: good and bad dreams, dreams we can't forget, dreams we can't ignore and also dreams we wish came true. There're different theories about dreams. Some say dreams are just our brains' wasted energy while we sleep. Some say they actually mean our state of mind, and represent our thoughts, dreams, desires and fears. But then what about those dreams about people we dont think about? Someone we didn't even know back in school? Or somebody we'd passed on our way to work? Or someone we saw somewhere we dont even remember. Happens, you know! But why?

There's a book called The Interpretation Of Dreams by Sigmund Freud. Its one of those bestselling books most people can't read. It gave me nightmares since the day i started to read it. So I never got to the second page. Of course!

So I'll just guess. Maybe seeing surprising faces in dreams signifies our desires to know these people, desires we might have felt at the time when i saw those faces...

what do you think?
